The Dover Coalition for Youth has developed a comprehensive approach to medication abuse prevention that includes:

  • Reducing Youth Access to Prescription Drugs: through hosting disposal programs community members are given the opportunity to rid their home of unused or expired medications
  • Increasing Awareness of Medication Security Issues: through education and the distribution of medicine lock boxes we encourage people to secure the drugs that they need to have in their homes
  • Raising Public Awareness of Rx Abuse Issues: with one in five teens reporting having used a prescription drug not prescribed to them in their lifetime we are bringing attention to the problem and the steps the community can take
  • Education: about the dangers of prescription drug abuse for adults and parents, as well as the youth, through classroom instruction, public presentations and community awareness projects
  • Reaching out to Youth: and making them true partners in the effort to get the message out to other youth and adults
